Laser
Surgery
Community
Animal Hospital has state-of-the-art medical
equipment. The carbon dioxide (CO2)
laser is one of the most sophisticated pieces that we
have. The CO2 laser is used for
surgical procedures that are painful and could have excessive
bleeding. The laser cauterizes small blood vessels, seals
nerve endings, and also seals lymphatic vessels as it
cuts to minimize the spread of cancer. Collateral damage
caused by the laser is significantly less than traditional
cautery units. Some of the most common procedures that the CO2
laser is used for are:
1)
Feline declaws (faster recovery and less pain)
2)
Large mass (tumor) removals
3)
Surgery on limbs, tail, anus, nose, and ears
4)
Cancer surgery
5)
Gingivectomy and many other oral surgeries
6)
Any surgery in which pain and bleeding are to be kept to a
minimum
All of the doctors at Community Animal Hospital have been
trained to use the CO2 laser. We
are very excited that we are able to offer this advanced
surgical technique to our clients.
